Syngon L. Hare
In Honor of Syngon L. Hare: August 8th, 1945 – September 26th, 2018
We are profoundly saddened by the death of our close friend and Los Angeles-based Vice Chairman, Syngon L. Hare, on September 26th, 2018. Lung cancer was discovered in 2018, leading to a rapid decline in his health over a fortnight. We offer our heartfelt sympathy to his wife, his sons, and his additional family members, as well as his friends.
This situation was unthinkable and one that leaves us with a heavy heart since he was always positive and enjoyed working in the Los Angeles office, where he resided for the last few decades.
Sy was a great man and a wonderful business leader with very valuable business insights in many industries. What struck me about Sy from the very beginning, when we spoke about the possibility of him joining our group, were his excitement, his human qualities, his generosity and the way he understood people. Over the years, we worked on many deals, enjoyed many meetings with our investment banking clients and had unique and unrepeatable moments. It has been my privilege to work with Sy during these years.
For so many, Sy has been an enlightened friend and leader. He has been someone with whom to share thoughts and in whom to trust, and above all a true friend. He taught our clients to think differently, in unconventional ways, always acting with a sense of responsibility for the companies and their stakeholders.
Sy made a lasting impression on so many people and always tried to make a difference, wherever his work took him and in the lives of so very many people.
Sy was a Wall Street veteran and also highly regarded in the Middle East and Africa. Sy was Chairman, Chief Executive, and founder of Los Angeles-based SL Hare Capital, Inc. SL Hare Capital, Inc. has earned an excellent reputation in financial advisory, corporate debt, and municipal debt underwriting, equity capital markets, and institutional equity trading. SL Hare Capital, Inc. has served as Senior Co-Manager, Co-Manager, or Selling Group Member in tens of billions of dollars in taxable and non-taxable debt offerings. SL Hare Capital, Inc. has also participated in several billions of dollars of equity capital market offerings.
Prior to founding SL Hare Capital, Sy served for eleven years as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Chatsworth Group, an investment banking firm headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Previously, Sy served as Executive Vice President and Director of Capital Markets at Luther, Smith & Small, a Los Angeles-based investment banking firm, and as Deputy Chief of Finance in the Los Angeles Office of the U.S. Small Business Administration. He held several FINRA securities licenses.
At the beginning of his career, Sy was a U.S. Air Force communications systems intelligence veteran.
